Fifth District Police Station

The two-story, brick masonry structure is located in a residential area of New Orleans’ Ninth Ward. The exterior design of the Fifth District Police Station is evocative of a turn-of-the-century Viennese building with articulated, multi-color brickwork. The building’s footprint is formed by the intersection of a semi-circular form and a rectangular form.

The entry to the station is created by a large limestone wall with aluminium and glass doors. Upon entering the building one encounters a large semi-circular atrium characterized by six expansive block and clerestory windows, as well as a large curving staircase which leads to the second floor.
